Whilst listening to this Stress Management Self-Hypnosis CBT Session,  you will experience a deep relaxing state, allowing your subconscious mind to absorb positive suggestions and ideas that will reduce your stress levels. Stress is caused by experiencing, feeling or seeing something that we perceive to be a threat, either physically or emotionally.

If we perceive events to be a threat to our normal functioning, wellbeing or self esteem we experience the negative thoughts and emotions we all associate with stress. However, the effects of stress are not limited to what goes on within our brains - they permeate our whole body and, if sustained, can have powerful and harmful effects on our physical health.

It's the link between what we think and feel and the activity in the rest of our body that's mediated (at least in part) by the stress hormone Cortisol. The more stressful we perceive life to be, the more Cortisol we release into the bloodstream.  Although Cortisol is an essential hormone that performs a wide range of vital functions, producing too much at the wrong times of day can put our health at risk.

A sustained period of stress can increase our chance of succumbing to a range of illnesses, depending on individual susceptibilities in terms of genetic predisposition and lifestyle and potentially, stress can also worsen some existing conditions.

Although it can be difficult to tease out all the factors that may lead to illness, research continues to find clear evidence that stress is an issue we should all take seriously: stress not only threatens the quality of our lives but also the state of our health.

So how can Hypnosis and CBT help?

When you are in a state of hypnosis certain physiological changes take place; decrease in heart rate, decrease in blood  pressure, decrease in metabolic rate and oxygen consumption, decrease in skeletal muscle tension, and a decrease in alpha activity to mention just a few alterations. With these changes the body begins to return to a state of chemical and hormonal balance, thus functioning at a healthier level.  Hypnosis creates a distinct state of mind and opens up a communication between your conscious and subconscious mind.  With this communication path open, the subconscious mind can accept suggestions and new ideas that will help you to control and change the way you think, so that an ‘activating’ event that would normally have caused an emotional, psychological and biologically stressed state, no longer does so.

This improved  emotional and  psychological state created by deep relaxation, Cognitive Behaviour Techniques and Hypnosis combined,  has a long term beneficial effect on the body and the mind.

Like daydreaming Hypnosis is a safe, natural phenomenon, you will always remain aware of your surroundings.  The hypnotic state can be broken at any time, allowing you to attend to anything that you need to.

Hypnotherapy is recognised and promoted by National Health Service as valid complimentary therapy.

Regular use of this CD, will make it easier in the future, to reach an instant state of calmness, reduced stress and relaxation, at any time and in any place. However, do not listen to any Hypnotherapy or Self-Hypnosis CDs whilst driving or operating any machinery that requires concentration.

There are three tracks on this CD.

The Hypnotherapy and CBT session lasts around 45 minutes.

You will find this CD easy to listen to, with no gimmicks, subliminal messages, or irritating, overbearing music. The voice you will hear is that of a female with an English accent.

Self-Help:

Effective stress-management can prevent stress-related ailments, such as anxiety, insomnia and digestive upset, boost vitality and enhance enjoyment of life.

List major stresses and consider solutions or lifestyle changes for each. Prioritise, practise time management and learn to delegate and say, ‘No’.

Make time for rest and relaxation and time for yourself on a regular basis.

Improve your diet by reducing caffeine, nicotine, junk foods and sugar and increasing whole grains, vegetables, fruit and water.

Stress puts added strain on the liver and nervous system. To strengthen these boost intake of B vitamins, Vitamin C, zinc and magnesium.

Practice breathing exercises, such as alternate nostril breathing or diaphragmatic breathing, daily and add a short meditation practice to your daily routine, or use Hypnotherapy to change the way you perceive stressful situations and to re-balance the body’s hormones.

Take regular exercise to relieve stress and stimulate endorphin production, which has a relaxing effect. Balance vigorous exercise with gentle stretching, Yoga or Pilates are ideal.

Disclaimer: Hypnotherapy should be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for any conventional medical treatment that you may be receiving. As Hypnotherapy can slow the heart beat down, we suggest that if you suffer with low blood pressure you should check with your GP before using Hypnotherapy or Self-Hypnosis.
