EasyBirth
Hypno-Birthing Relaxation and Guided Imagery, CD and mp3 download
This Hypnotherapy
session is designed to teach you how to relax during pregnancy, so that when you go into labour, you have complete
control over how your body responds and you are able to reduce the pain sensations that the brain receives. You will experience
a Virtual-Birthing, remaining calm, relaxation and pain-free throughout.
The ability to truly relax every part of your body and your mind, will help
you drift through the peak of each contraction, as though surfing on the crest of a wonderful wave, and as the
wave disappears it will leave you feeling calm, relaxed and in control. This is the aim of our Easy-Birth Hypnotherapy, Guided
Imagery & Relaxation session.
Just knowing you have some control over
your body’s physical reactions is relaxing in itself, and the more you can relax and drift into the state Hypnosis,
the easier it is to close the pain gate with your subconscious mind and the more comfortable you will be during labour.
What is really happening in the body when we feel pain is just beginning to be understood
by medical science. We do know that the process begins when our cells when our tissues emit a kind of ‘danger signal’,
such as that stemming from tissue damage or inflammation. These chemical are called Histamines.
When nerve fibres in our bodies sense these chemicals, they send an electrical charge along the spinal cord
to a region called the dorsal horn. What happens at the dorsal horn is not fully understood, but this process of spinal pain
signalling is often termed the "Pain Gate". Pain Gate Signalling causes additional chemicals called neurotransmitters
to be released, which convey the pain signal to our brains. If you can interrupt these messages and reduce the production
of chemicals, you can close the pain gate, so in effect you are managing the pain rather than it managing you.
Pain is also very closely intertwined with psychology and we have all heard of anecdotal stories of amazing
feats of bravely performed in extreme circumstance, when people should have experienced extreme pain, but instead felt
none until after the event.; this is a perfect example of the mind blocking the pain signals just when it most needs to.
‘Distraction’ also plays a large part in blocking pain information. We can only process a
certain amount of information at any one time, so if you overload the brain with visual, auditory and kinetic information,
there is no room for the pain messages to get through. It is this knowledge of how the brain perceives pain that enables
us to use Hypnotherapy to overload the mind, create a distraction, close the pain gates and cause the body to go into a mode of deep relaxation which reduces and often eliminate pain altogether.
