Creating a Peaceful Meditation Room

There are many ways to get rid of stress, and one of them is through meditation. While you can go to fitness centres to practice yoga, you cannot do this all the time especially if you have a busy work schedule. However, you can still meditate by creating a special room in your house, where you can have all the peace and quiet that you need.

Your meditation area has to be more than calm and serene. There are other factors that you need to consider as you construct and design the room. Among these are lighting, personal comfort, and ambiance.

The first thing you need to do is to choose an area that is peaceful and not cluttered. There are rooms in your home that you can turn into your meditating haven. These include your bedroom, den, or basement. These locations are not subject to noises, so they are suitable for silent reflections. If your basement is cluttered and filled with furnishing or other stuff, you can move the things to another room. If your den or bedroom have chairs or tables, move the furniture aside and create enough space for your meditation needs.

After you have allocated a space, you can choose between a comfortable cushion and chair as your seat. To make the room tranquil, you can light incense sticks and place them in holders. If you do not want the smell of the incense to be overpowered by the aroma of the candles, go for unscented ones.

If you are going to use instructional CDs, you need to equip the room with a DVD or cassette player. You can also include a television screen.
